*Update*

Help us find the perfect forever family for our longest CVRR foster dog. He's been in our care since September of 2016.

From his foster parents, "It’s hard to believe Mr Atticus Finch has been with us a year now. He has learned so much and we are so proud of him. Atty is a 3 (or 4) yr old Staffordshire Terrier and he is currently living in our home with 6 dogs and 4 cats. He is a neutered male weighing around 70lbs who has been great with all his foster friends. He has been to the forest farmers market and there was introduced to children for the first time since coming to live with us, and he was fantastic. They hugged him, and sat on the ground with him and he just loved every second of it. He happily greeted anyone who approached him, and he was especially interested when a treat was offered. Atty loves to give hugs and wet willy kisses.

Atticus is kennel trained and spends time in his kennel only when we both have to leave home. He is potty trained and he LOVES going outside. On a nice day he almost refuses to come inside (we have a fenced in yard and he loves to lay in the sun.) Toys are a huge motivator for Atticus, and we have discovered that they are necessary for him when he meets anyone new (human or non-human). It has turned out to be a great way to harness his attention so he doesn’t jump up on people, or run right up to a new dog and scare them. He’s just a big boy.

Atticus is leash trained, but for the first few minutes he gets a little overly excited and can be hard to handle due to his size. We have been working on this, and that’s where the toy has been a great tool that has been successful in calming him down. In addition to having 4 dogs of our own and 3 foster dogs we also dog sit. Atticus has been great with all the dogs we have watched over the past year that he has been in our care. He just needs someone willing to handle big love!"

Atticus came to our care in September 2016.  He was a stray that we pulled from the shelter.   In foster care he is a great big teddy bear who loves attention and belly rubs.  He makes doggie friends quickly and has done fine with kitties except they don’t always appreciate his sloppy kisses.  He is very muscular and when on leash is very excited to meet people.  He needs a firm hand and some training for this but seems eager to please and should learn quickly.  He has greatly astonished his foster parents with how gentle he is towards others. Fill out an application and come see this sweet and gentle bear, Atticus, because he wants to see you!

The adoption fee for this dog is $175.00   which helps to cover a portion of the care provided, including: spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm testing, age appropriate vaccinations: DHLP/P, Bordetella, Rabies, deworming, and any medical care received while with CVRR.  All animals are on flea/tick and parasite prevention for the duration in foster care.

We are a volunteer group who process the applications so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions.   You can expedite the process by providing accurate phone and email addresses for all your references.  Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have multiple applications in process.

We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible. When your application is approved, we will schedule a meet-and-greet to see if the dog picks you too.  If it seems that the adoption will be a good match for all, there is an adoption fee and an adoption contract to be signed.  The adoption fees help cover a portion of the care provided to the animals.   All Dogs and cats adopted out are fully vetted, spayed/neutered, and microchipped.

**All of our animals have a lifetime commitment. If for any reason, the adoption does not work out, the cats and dogs are to come back to CVRR, which is a NO kill rescue.  The foster family and the rescue volunteers will choose a new home based on the best fit for the dog/cat.
